Wrap Up

July Monthly Recap

Welcome to my Monthly Recap post. This is where I share my stats, updates on my reading challenges, and my top picks for the month!

What a whirlwind of a month. While my reading wasn’t super strong this month, quite a bit happened this month. I got back to blogging and getting that all set up and ready took lots of time and work but it has been so fun getting back to it.

Let me know what you think of the books I loved and what books you fell hard for this month in July! And now let’s kick off August!

Reading Challenges

Goodreads

My goal for Goodreads is 300, but I am aiming to get closer to 400 this year if I can. I am currently at 251, 76 books ahead of schedule. I am at 84% of it completed for my minimum goal of 300. So I would say it’s been a solid reading year so far for me.

Romanceopoly

I am at 37% completed with 25/63 prompts. I am a bit behind on this challenge and need to work on it, and am planning on it starting next week.

Let Downs of the Month

Enticing by Bella Matthews

This was my only DNF for the month and really the only disappointment that I truly had this month. I didn’t have a strong reading month so I knew there wouldn’t be that month to be listed here. My issue with this one is not expecting a toxic heroine by this author. She hasn’t written a bad heroine, not really so far, and I am on my second series from her, so it was shocking to see such a horrible heroine being written. I guess I had too high of expectations. But it’s also why I am not a fan of Black Cat/Golden Retriever pairings. Too many times, authors don’t handle this dynamic as delicately as it should be handled. It just comes off as abusive, at least for me. Some authors write it well, but not many.

Top Books of the Month

While I wasn’t able to read as many books as I had originally wanted to, the books that I was able to pick up were FANTASTIC!!! I did get a chance to read so many keepers. And I might have read a bit too much in dark romance but I have no regrets because these were all so great!

So tell me how your month of July was? Did you have any fun plans? Any great books read? Let me know in the comments below!
